What we have is a Level 4 lay-down bed and a Level 5 stand-up, in their own room off the gym floor — and they come inside the membership instead of being sold by the package.

What a package costs, and what this costs instead

If you tan through the spring you are probably buying a package, then buying another one when it runs out. Here the beds are not a product. They are part of the membership, on every plan, and there is no separate tanning card on file and nothing metered at the counter.

A Level 4 lay-down and a Level 5 stand-up

One of each: the Level 5 stand-up, which is faster and easiest on your back, and the Level 4 lay-down for a longer session and a deeper base. Both are in their own room, off the gym floor. Lotion is at the counter, and the desk sets the length of your first few sessions rather than letting you guess at a Level 5.

The months people actually drive down for

February is when packages renew, and March through May is one continuous run of dated reasons to have a base — a vacation, a wedding, a photo you will keep. Come a few weeks before the date rather than the week of, start in the stand-up booth, and build to it. Short passes exist for exactly that: a week is $20 and two weeks is $30.

The gym comes with it, if you want it

You do not have to use the floor and plenty of people never do. But the same app that opens the tanning rooms opens a free-weight floor, a row of treadmills and ellipticals and locker rooms with private showers, at any hour, for the same twenty-five dollars.
